Discussion focuses on food crisis

Potential solutions to the global food crisis is the topic of a free discussion hosted by the First Unitarian Fellowship of Nanaimo.

Susan Walsh, executive director of USC Canada and an expert on agricultural biodiversity and the resilience strategies of indigenous peoples, will discuss some of the roots of the global food crisis.

She will also share stories of farmers she met in Mali and Honduras who are demonstrating that small scale farmers have the resilience and skill to turn this dire situation around.

USC Canada promotes vibrant family farms, strong rural communities and healthy ecosystems around the world.

The talk takes place Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. at 595 Townsite Rd.
