Cycling co-op gets its tires pumped

Nanaimo cycling co-op receives a 3,000 grant the Co-operators Foundation.

Hub City Cycles Community Co-op in Nanaimo got its tires pumped thanks to a $3,000 grant the Co-operators Foundation.

The grant, through the foundation’s Co-operative Development Program, helps promote bicycle use and bike culture in the Harbour City.

Established last February, Hub City Cycles’ goal is to increase community membership and to be a hub for people to share skills and bike know-how, as well as to purchase services.

Over the past 20 years, the Co-operators has provided more than $1.7 million in grants and investments to Canadian co-operatives through its development program.
