Contest gets people talking

The best Toastmaster speakers from Duncan to Port Hardy will be talking up a storm Saturday (April 16) during the spring division speech contest in Lantzville

The  public is invited to listen, watch and receive information about clubs across the Island, including the 10 that meet weekly in the Nanaimo area.

“Not only will you hear some fun and informative speeches, but you’ll pick up tips on great presentation style by seeing these winners of area contests from across the Island,” said George Plumley, event co-organizer and a member of the Chamber Sunrisers Toastmasters group in Nanaimo.  “Toastmasters is a great place to sharpen your communication and leadership skills in a positive environment – whether you’re scared to stand up and give a speech at a wedding or you want to give even better sales presentations.”

The event takes place at Costin Hall in Lantzville, 7232 Lantzville Rd., from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Doors open at 10:30 am  and admission is $8 per person.

The winner of the contest goes on to the provincial competition in Osoyoos May 6.
