Organizations are continually thinking of new ways to engage stakeholders and members of the community.
Sometimes it’s a good idea to get another perspective on the issue and hear input from other organizations about its public engagement strategies. Vancouver Island University is partnering with the International Association for Public Participation to host Beyond The Hype 2015: Perspective on Public Engagement on Nov. 13 at the university’s Royal Arbutus Room.
It’s a professional development conference for the Canadian Public Relations Society that attracts professionals from a variety of fields including public relations, communications and marketing.
Topics covered include public engagement on Vancouver Island, regional districts and tourism; public engagement in action a world cafe workshop; a global perspective.
There will also be a panelist discussion from 11:00 a.m. to noon with Dale Burgos, director of communications for Nanaimo school district; Julie Douglas, City of Campbell River communications advisor; Ted Olynk manager of community relations Vancouver Island-Sunshine Coast B.C. Hydro; and Ian Roberts, Marine Harvest Moderator’s manager of public affairs.
