Big help

Paulyne Robinson, with Big Brothers Big Sisters, accepts a donations of $2,000 from Gord Medves, of Milner Group. The business raised $1,350 from a drop-off day at Pacific Coast Waste Management, topped up with an additional $650.

Fashionable giving

Karyn French, left, Nanaimo Community Hospice Society executive director, and Debbie Perry, society office manager, right, accept a donation of $9,358 from KC’s Boutique owners Connie Cyr, centre left, and Karen Griffin. The money was raised through the Fashions for Compassion spring fashion show and high tea at Nanaimo Curling Centre in April. The sold-out event attracted 200 women. The annual event has raised $25,000 in the last four years.

Boots to suits

Dry grad support

Sabrina Geoffroy, chairwoman of Nanaimo Dry Grad Society, receives a donation from Susan Urban, marketing and community relations manager for Mid Island Co-op. The money was raised through a fundraiser from April 17-23 where a portion of the profits from each litre of gasoline sold would be donated to six dry grad events taking place in June.
