Winter coat collection is helping to provide some warmth for people experiencing homelessness in Nanaimo.

Last week, Dodd’s Furniture partnered with the Nanaimo Homeless Coalition to collect and distribute winter coats in the city, noted a press release from the United Way of Central and Northern Vancouver Island.

The coats were passed along to be distributed by the coalition’s partner agencies such as the Society for Equity, Inclusion and Advocacy and the 7-10 Club.

“During these cold winter months, donations of winter coats help keep people experiencing homelessness warm and safe,” said Chantale Roelens, SEIA executive director.

Dodd’s in Nanaimo has collected more than 40 coats and is continuing to do so; those wishing to donate gently used winter coats or hats, scarves and gloves can do so at the furniture store on Uplands Drive.
