Clinic keeps animals safe

NANAIMO – SPCA hosts annual rabies/microchip clinic June 23.

It’s all about the animals June 22 as the Nanaimo and District SPCA hosts its annual rabies/microchip and garage sale fundraising clinic.

The clinic runs from noon to 4 p.m. at the shelter, 2200 Labieux Rd.

Island Veterinary Hospital is sponsoring the clinic, offering the rabies vaccine and microchip for a $50 combined cost for cats and dogs which includes a pet examination. Pet owners may choose to have a single option at a cost of $30.

Cats should be in carriers and dogs on leashes.

The vaccinations are donated and 100 per cent of the profits go to benefit the abandoned, abused and neglected animals in the Nanaimo community.

A vegetarian barbecue and salad buffet  lunch is also available by donation.

Organizers are looking for donations of good quality, lightly used items for the garage sale. They can be dropped off at the shelter.
