On Father’s Day, the City of Nanaimo hosts free fishing for families at Colliery Dam Park.
The event takes place June 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as part of B.C.’s Family Fishing Weekend
Activities include games, crafts and learning how to fish. A trout release will be held at 1 p.m. and fly-tying demos with Island Water Fly Fishers will take place throughout the event. The B.C. government is issuing complimentary fishing licences valid during the weekend June 17-19.
“This is a great way for the whole family to give fishing a try and enjoy one of Nanaimo’s amazing parks,” said Deborah Beck, recreation coordinator for City of Nanaimo.
