Christmas is over – it’s time to chip up those trees.

Three local groups are hosting Christmas tree chip-up fundraiser events this weekend, Jan. 8-9.

Nanaimo Search and Rescue is hosting tree chipping by donation Jan. 8-9 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days in the Country Club Centre parking lot near the Dairy Queen.

Nanaimo and District B.C. SPCA is holding tree chipping by donation Jan. 8-9 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days at the Nanaimo SPCA facility on Westwood Road.

The Salvation Army Nanaimo is hosting a tree-chipping fundraiser today, Jan. 8, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at 505 Fifth St.

The Nanaimo Lions Club was planning to hold a Christmas tree disposal event this weekend, too, but cancelled it due to parking lot conditions at Nanaimo North Town Centre after recent snowfalls.
