Christian association on recruiting drive

NANAIMO – Pastors and church leaders will get a sneak peek on Friday (Oct. 26) at the My Hope campaign.

Nanaimo pastors and church leaders will get a sneak peak on Friday (Oct. 26)  at the My Hope campaign being launched Canada-wide by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association next year.

“The My Hope ministry has been very successful in helping lead people to Christian faith in the developing world – for example, more than 2.7 million made commitments in India in 2006, more than 340,000 in Brazil in 2008 and at least 168,000 in Malawi in 2010,” the association stated in a press release.

Initially launched in 2002, My Hope works through local churches to train Christians to invite neighbours, co-workers, and friends into their homes for a meal or dessert. While there, they watch a television broadcast or DVD presentation that features a message from Billy or Franklin Graham, faith testimonies and music.

The association is hoping to recruit thousands of churches and train tens of thousands of church members across Canada before Nov, 13, 2013, the date set for the Canada-wide My Hope telecast.

The sneak peek takes place at the First Baptist Church, from noon to 2 p.m.
