A woman’s two best friends are featured at the Wine, Women and Chocolate fundraising event May 5.
The evening, which includes a no-host bar, tasty treats, great music, massages, reflexology, Tarot readings and a silent auction, is a fundraiser for the Canadian Mental Health Association’s mid-Island branch.
Diane Brennan, former Nanaimo city councillor and mental health advocate, will emcee the event, which runs from 6-9 p.m. at the Nanaimo Curling Club at 106 Wall St.
Tickets are $20 each and available at the Canadian Mental Health Association office at 126 Haliburton Street or by calling 250-244-4042 ext. 151.
The association supports people with mental illnesses through several programs, including peer support, homelessness outreach, recovery workshops, low-barrier housing and the Phoenix Centre Clubhouse.
Wine, Women and Chocolate is one of several events held during Mental Health Week May 2-7.
There is an open house at the Phoenix Centre at 1045A Terminal Avenue on May 3 from 3-6 p.m. and there is a mental health forum sponsored by the Nanaimo Mental Health and Addiction Advisory Council on May 5 at the Beban Park Social Centre.
