Canadian boaters face tougher test standards

New testing standards for Canadian boaters are in effect tomorrow (April 15).

Operators of any motorized water vessel are required by law to have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card. Starting Friday, those who do not have one will face new, stricter boating exam standards.

The new standards increase exam questions to 50 from 36 and those who choose to take their exam online will be required to complete an online study guide prior to taking the exam.

Boaters can buy a BOATsmart! Home Study Guide at participating Canadian Tire stores or by taking the classroom course.
