The final ElderCollege speaker series talk of the spring will look into a future that’s arriving fast.

Richard Smith from the Centre for Digital Media in Vancouver will present Pressing Problems of 21st-Century Technologies: Robots, VR and AI (Oh My) on Saturday, April 21 in Nanoose Bay.

Smith will present an introduction to the technologies and then “focus on their impact on society – both negative and positive, how to take advantage of the technology, and how to reduce possible harmful effects,” notes an event press release.

The event is at Nanoose Place, 2925 Northwest Bay Rd. Admission is $10 cash at the door or $5 for university students and free for high school students. The talk is from 10 a.m.-noon.
