A beer from White Sails Brewing has taken top honours as world’s best black India pale ale.

The downtown Nanaimo-based brewery’s Snake Island Cascadian Dark Ale won the world’s best black IPA title and was also named country winner for black IPAs at the World Beer Awards 2017, according to a press release.

White Sails’ Mount Benson IPA took a gold award in the Canadian IPA category as well.

More accolades could be on the horizon, as eight ‘World’s Best’ awards are set to be announced Sept. 21.

The B.C. Beer Awards are also set to take place in October.
