Website training available with government program

NANAIMO – Micro business owners on Vancouver Island can benefit from a government funded, 20-week training program

Starting in January, qualified micro business owners on Vancouver Island can benefit from a government funded, 20-week training program designed to help them develop or improve their online presence.

The course includes 30 hours of hands-on classroom learning, 10 hours of web-based training, private coaching, a full suite of website building tools, site hosting and domain name registration. Business owners who enrol in the course will learn to create not just a website, but also an active online arm of their business that brings in new customers or clients, generates additional revenue sources, and helps to establish them as a local expert in their field.

The training will be delivered in Nanaimo by Susan Peach, an independent, online business consultant and certified SiteSell Education instructor authorized to provide training under the Micro Business Training (MBT) Pilot Program.

Peach is also making two other courses available through the MBT program, including private coaching alongside a self-paced program of online study for those who cannot attend the live training due to scheduling conflicts or distance.

MBT funding for this course is available to business owners with fewer than five employees, no post-secondary degree or recognized certifications, and who are not currently enrolled in a full time post-secondary program.

Full eligibility requirements can be seen online at www.bcmicrobusiness.com, along with program details, an application form, and a list of additional training opportunities available from a range of service providers.

Peach is offering a free information session on Wednesday (Dec. 5) from 7-8:30 p.m. in north Nanaimo.

Solo entrepreneurs and micro business owners are invited to come and learn more about this funded training opportunity, MBT eligibility requirements, and the application process.

Seats can be reserved by calling 250-585-4064 or by e-mailing susan@susanpeach.ca.
