Snuneymuxw building recognized in real estate awards

NANAIMO – Vancouver Island Real Estate Board recognized builders with awards gala.

Snuneymuxw First Nation’s administration building in south Nanaimo was recognized for an award at the annual Vancouver Island Real Estate Board’s Commercial Building Awards.

Forty finalists vied for top honours at the ninth-annual event, held at the Coast Bastion Hotel last week.

More than 70 projects in 12 categories were eligible for this year’s awards, which honour the best commercial and industrial structures built in the real estate board’s area in the 2015 calendar year.

By category, Awards of Excellence went to the following:

Community Snuneymuxw First Nations Administration Building, Nanaimo;

Green Milner Gardens and Woodland Shore Stabilization, Qualicum Beach;

Hospitality Blue Grouse Winery, Duncan;

Industrial Coldstar Solutions Inc., Ladysmith; Eriks, Nanaimo;

Industrial Renovation Arbutus Industrial Park, Parksville;

Institutional Qualicum Beach Fire Hall, Qualicum Beach;

Multi-Family Apartment 4960 Songbird Place, Nanaimo;

Non-Market Housing Hope House Residence - Brentwood College, Mill Bay;

Retail Madrona Marketplace West, Gabriola Island;

Retail Automotive Galaxy Motors, Courtenay;

Retail Renovation Pleasant Valley Landing, Nanaimo.

The following buildings won Awards of Merit:

Hospitality Comfort Inn Hotel, Campbell River; Sproat Lake Landing, Port Alberni;

Institutional Comox Public Works Yard, Comox; Peerless Road Recycling Centre, Ladysmith;

Multi-Family Apartment The Cannery – Seaside Living, Cowichan Bay;

Multi-Family Townhome 3 Leam Road, Nanaimo;

Retail Green Rock Liquor Store, Nanaimo; Healthyway Natural Foods, Campbell River;

Retail Automotive Island Chevrolet GM, Duncan;

Retail Renovation The Broken Spoke Coffee House, Courtenay.
