Quality Foods recognized as master merchandiser

NANAIMO – Quality Foods stores also received awards of merit at Independent Grocer of the Year Awards.

Quality Foods Waterside Square in Parksville has captured the Canadian Master Merchandiser National Gold Award as part of the Independent Grocer of the Year Awards program.

The honour was accepted by QF partners Ken Schley and John Briuolo on behalf of store manager Randy Henson and his staff at the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocer’s annual awards dinner in Toronto on Oct. 18.

The Canadian Master Merchandiser Award is given to the independent grocer which best demonstrates effective merchandising through store displays, community involvement and building strong relationships between retailers and suppliers.

This year, the company submitted an entry that encompassed each of these qualities and was rewarded with the coveted National Gold in the medium store category.

“This award is special for us because our entry was themed as ‘We’re 34 – Look What’s in Store’ as part of our anniversary celebrations,” Schley said. “A lot of people worked very hard for this, and the results were remarkable. We’re very pleased and excited to return and share this achievement with them.

“The fact that most QF stores received Awards of Merit again this year gives us great momentum and confidence,” he added.
