Nanaimo students earn qualification

NANAIMO – Five students graduated to chartered accountants.

Five Nanaimo chartered accountant students graduated from the qualification program at a ceremony held in May in Vancouver.

Students earning the qualification include from MNP Janna Olynk, Farrell Gilmour, Ryan Kelly and Jennifer Schofield, and  from Barber and Haime is Philip Birrer.

Students recognized at the convocation ceremony are eligible for membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C. this year.

“These students have earned their CA designation by successfully completing a rigorous and competitive academic program, focused on business and accounting competencies,” said Richard Rees, CEO of the Chartered Professional Accountants of B.C. Joint Venture and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia. “We are very proud of them, and they should take great pride in having earned their CA designation.”

To qualify as a chartered accountant, students must have a university degree or equivalent, 30 months of practical work experience in a CA-approved training office, and complete courses through the CA qualification program. CAs must also pass a comprehensive rigorous national final exam to earn their designation.
