Leaders picked for Successful City initiative

A steering committee to provide leadership and advancement of Nanaimo as a Successful City has been chosen.

A steering committee to provide leadership and advancement of Nanaimo as a Successful City has been chosen.

The nominating committee, made up of the founding partners – Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce, City of Nanaimo, and Vancouver Island University – and two community members, Carol Mathews and Don Bonner, were impressed with the response and the quality of submissions from the community asking for nominations to sit on a steering committee.

The committee will be guided in its work by the following elements of a Successful City; built environment, natural environment, cultural, economic and social considerations – the basis for a solid foundation on which a successful Nanaimo can evolve and prosper.

The new Inspire Nanaimo steering committee includes: David Witty, VIU; Ian Howat, City of Nanaimo; Susan Allen,Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce; Felicity Adams; Angie Barnard; Chris Beaton; Fred Brooks; Zinda Fitzgerald; Adam Hawryluk; Allan Hawryzki; Wally Wells; and Meldy Wilton.

By working together, Nanaimo will be better able to dialogue, reflect, adapt and prosper. Nanaimo already offers a high quality of life for all its citizens.
