Residents living in the mid-Island will once again be able to catch a direct flight from the Harbour City to Canada’s largest city.

In an e-mail to the News Bulletin, Air Canada confirmed that it will offer seasonal non-stop flights between Nanaimo and Toronto from June until October using its low-cost subsidiary airline, Air Canada Rouge.

Air Canada Rouge will operate daily non-stop flights from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport to Nanaimo Airport from June 26 until Sept. 7. Flights will then be reduced to four times weekly from Sept. 8 until Oct. 12, which is when the airline’s seasonal service will conclude entirely.

“We look forward to linking Nanaimo to our primary global hub again this summer, offering additional choices to and from Vancouver Island,” Angela Mah, airline spokesperson, said in the statement.

The route will be operated with an Airbus A319, according to Mah.

Air Canada has been operating seasonal non-stop service between Toronto and Nanaimo since 2018.
