A Nanaimo Timbermen player made an impact in his rookie season and was honoured as an all-star.
Chase Fraser, a forward with the senior A team, was announced as a Western Lacrosse Association second-team all-star on Tuesday.
Fraser played in all 18 games in his first season of WLA lacrosse, scoring 30 goals – including three game-winning goals – and 52 points. He had 42 penalty minutes, 182 shots on goal and a .583 faceoff percentage.
“The Nanaimo Timbermen congratulate rookie Chase Fraser for being named a WLA second team all-star…” noted a team press release. “On the floor Fraser is an offensive force but also a key faceoff man and a physical presence. There’s lots of excitement around the organization to see where he can take his game in 2018.”
The league’s board of governors voted on all-stars and award winners. The WLA will continue to announce major award winners this week.
