T-men, Lakers play to 10-10 tie

The senior A Nanaimo Timbermen and the Burnaby Lakers couldn’t solve things through three periods of lacrosse and another 10 minutes of overtime.

The Western Lacrosse Association foes tied 10-10 on Tuesday night on the mainland.

Though both teams reached double-digits, the game was something of a goalies’ duel as Pete Dubenski of the Timbermen made 51 saves and his counterpart, former T-men starter Zak Boychuk, made 56 saves at the other end of the floor.

Ryan Lee led Nanaimo’s offence with two goals and two assists, Chase Fraser and Jake Cullen had a goal and two assists apiece and other scorers were Matt Benedict, Jordan Cunningham, Brody Eastwood, Quinn Smith, Adam Jay and Conrad Chapman.

Nanaimo plays back-to-back home games this weekend, taking on the Maple Ridge Burrards on Saturday (June 24) at 6 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena and then playing the New Westminster Salmonbellies on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Frank Crane.
