The Nanaimo Hornets, double Island champions, weren’t able to add a B.C. title to their trophy case.
The Div. 1 men’s rugby side was defeated 41-10 by the Surrey Beavers in the B.C. Rugby provincial club finals on Saturday at Abbotsford Exhibition Park.
The match concluded a 2016-17 season that saw the Hornets capture both the Times Cup fall Island championship and then the Cowichan Cup spring Island championship.
