Nanaimo gymnasts finish first all-around at competitions

Nanaimo gymnasts have been sticking the landing so far this season.

Nanaimo Gymnastics School athletes have had top finishes at a handful of competitions, including the Surrey Invitational from March 1-3.

Julie Scott took first place all-around, first on bars and first on beam in Level 8, while Mylah Vanden-Elsen placed first on vault and beam in the same division.

Makayla White was first on beam in pre-novice aspire Level 1.

At the Omega Invitational in Coquitlam Feb. 23-24, Kayla Howell was first on floor in Level 9, Vanden-Elsen was first all-around and on vault and beam in Level 8 and Samantha Jones took first on floor in the same division.

In Level 7, Ella Husband was first all-around and first on bars, beam and floor, with Ryann Sandland first on vault. Level 6 saw Sophie Chernykh take first on beam with Hazel Quarress first on floor.
