The Mid Island Pirates were beaten by their neighbours at the ballpark over the weekend.

The Nanaimo team lost both halves of a road doubleheader against the Parksville Royals on Sunday, 9-3 and then 4-1.

In the first game, Alex Jinda had a single, a double and two RBIs for the Pirates, Ben Munger scored two runs and Marcus Steen reached base twice.

In the second half of the double, Jackson Stephens reached base twice and Graham Dube drove in Mid Island’s only run.

GAME ON … The Pirates head over to the mainland this coming weekend for a doubleheader against the White Rock Tritons on Saturday (April 30) and then two games against the Coquitlam Reds on Sunday. Next home action is May 10.
