There are always a lot of good hockey games at Frank Crane Arena, and the Nanaimo Clippers are hoping even more fans will come out and watch.
The city's B.C. Hockey League club has dramatically reduced season ticket prices for the 2013-14 season.
"It's something that I've been extremely anxious to announce and I think our fans and supporters will be also very excited to hear," said Jen Kennedy, marketing director with the Clippers.
Adult season tickets will be $199 next season, savings of 37 per cent from 2012-13. Seniors season tickets will be $169 (33 per cent more inexpensive). Students ages 13-18 can get season tickets for $99 (53 per cent cheaper) and kids' season tickets will be $69 (30 per cent cheaper).
Kennedy said the ticket price reduction is unprecedented in the league, and said the decision is due to feedback from fans and corporate partners.
Anyone who purchases season tickets will be eligible for a reduced rate of $139 for a 13-game Western Canada Cup tournament pass. That special price will be offered to season ticket holders from any of the BCHL's teams.
In other Clippers ticket news, the team is now selling playoff tickets for the first round. If the Clippers finish second in the Island Division, they will host Game 1 and Game 2 on March 15-16; if they finish third they will host Game 3 and Game 4 on March 18-19.
