The Nanaimo Clippers are still making some roster decisions, but one way or another, they’ll need homes to house a 23-man roster.

The city’s B.C. Hockey League club still needs a couple more billet families as the 2017-18 regular season draws near.

The hockey club pays for food and billet families are asked to provide “a bed to sleep in and a place to chill out,” said Lenor Hazelbower, billet coordinator for the Clippers.

She hosts three players at her home even though she says she really only has room for two.

“I haven’t got anything negative to say about them, they’re all a really nice bunch of young men,” she said.

She said players generally billet with or near teammates who have a car so that they can arrange rides with each other; billet families aren’t asked to help with transportation.

“It’s their responsibility to get to their practices and get to their community events and their gym times. They’re pretty independent. They look after themselves really well,” Hazelbower said.

She said she’s happy to answer any questions people might have about billeting. For more information, call the Clippers office at 250-751-0593 or e-mail lenora@nanaimoclippers.com.
