Clippers bring in defenceman

The Nanaimo Clippers bolstered their blueline with a new defenceman.

The team announced Tuesday the acquisition of Graeme McCormack from the Winnipeg Blues.

McCormack scored nine goals and added 19 assists and 16 penalty minutes in 41 games with the Victoria Grizzlies last season. The 19-year-old from Thunder Bay, Ont., measures 6-foot-2, 195 pounds.

"Graeme was an extremely competitive player last season and will bring a great deal of stability and depth to our blue line," said Bill Bestwick, Clippers general manager, in a press release. "He is a gifted player who has the ability to play in all situations and we welcome him to our Clipper uniform."
