Bucs’ Bells are MVPs

The Nanaimo Buccaneers junior B hockey club announced its team award winners for 2016-17 last week.

The Buccaneers couldn’t choose, so they decided on two MVPs.

The Nanaimo Buccaneers junior B hockey club announced its team award winners for 2016-17 last week, a few days after being eliminated from the VIJHL playoffs.

Sharing the MVP trophy are forwards Chad Bell and Trent Bell.

Forward Dawson Heathcote was selected as Rookie of the Year and also received the Leading Scorer Award. Goalie John Hawthorne was chosen the team’s Playoff MVP. He also received Most Dedicated Player. Coach’s Awards went to Chad Bell and forward Nolan Richardson, and Richardson also took home Unsung Hero. Forward Billy Walters was chosen Energy Player, while forward Dylan Hartl got Most Sportsmanlike and defenceman Seamus O’Toole was deemed Most Improved. Forward Trey Watson got the Rink Rat Award and the Three Stars Award was shared by Trent Bell, Chad Bell and Heathcote.
