Fastball action fills field

The B.C. Cup featured high-calibre fastball this month in Cedar.

The men's fastpitch softball tournament at the Wheatsheaf field complex saw the Duncan Masters prevail as champions after a 5-2 win over Vancouver Meralomas in the final. The host Wheatsheaf Fastball Club lost to Vancouver 4-3 in a tight semifinal matchup and finished third.

The touring Aussie Sparks team from Australia also participated.

In related news, the Nanaimo Senior Men's Fastball League season wraps up Wednesday (July 30) as the Duncan Masters will take on the Wheaties in a 7 p.m. game at the Wheatsheaf fields. Admission is free.
