The Dover Bay Dolphins played hard and were right in the mix at Islands.

The senior AAA girls' soccer team hosted Vancouver Island zone championships on Monday and Tuesday at the McGirr Sports Fields and finished with one win and two losses.

Dover lost 3-0 to Stelly's and beat Frances Kelsey 3-0 on the first day of competition, then fell 1-0 to Belmont on Tuesday to end their season. The Dolphins pressed for the tying goal and hit the post with about five minutes left.

In the win over the Breakers, Emily Shires scored two goals, Aurora Jepson had the other and Margaret McKillop earned the shutout.

Oak Bay defeated Belmont in the Island final and those two teams advance to provincials in Vancouver at the end of the month.
