Over the years, Cedar Spartans teams filled up a trophy case, earned a banner and won their fair share of games.

Now, the last high school basketball season at the Cedar Secondary School gym is coming to an end.

The teams take to home court tonight (Feb. 11) for a doubleheader, with the senior AA girls taking on the Mark Isfeld Ice at 5:30 p.m. followed by the senior AA boys hosting the Highland Raiders at 7:15 p.m. On Wednesday, Cedar’s Grade 8 girls host the Nanaimo District Islanders at 3:30 p.m. in the last-ever scheduled high school basketball action in the gym.

Other action around the city Tuesday includes a doubleheader at Wellington Secondary School, where the senior AA girls host the NDSS girls at 5 p.m. before the boys’ teams from the two schools take to the court at about 6:45 p.m. Also, the Barsby Blazers senior AA girls host the Ballenas Whalers at 5 p.m.
