The Nanaimo Hornets did what no other team has been able to do this fall, and defeated the Velox Valhallians.

The Hornets (4-2) defeated the V’s (6-1) by a 33-24 score in B.C. Rugby Union’s Vancouver Island First Division action on Saturday afternoon at May Richards Bennett Pioneer Park.

The Hornets men play this Saturday (Nov. 24) on the road against the Port Alberni Black Sheep.

The Nanaimo Hornets women’s team (5-3), meanwhile, will be at home Saturday to take on the University of Victoria women (2-1) at Pioneer Park. The lady Hornets are coming off a default win.

Saturday’s match is slated to get underway at 11:30 a.m. and admission is always free at Nanaimo’s rugby pitch.
