VIBI Mariners bat at nationals
Nanaimo’s Vancouver Island Baseball Institute heads into nationals with an equal opportunity to bring home a championship.
The VIBI Mariners (13-15) ended the regular season with one win over their last four games on a road trip to Kelowna. The M’s lost 12-0 to Thompson Rivers and beat Okanagan 9-2 on Saturday, then lost 1-0 to Okie and 7-2 to TRU on Sunday.
In VIBI’s win, starting pitcher Connor Russell stayed hot with his fourth-straight ‘W’ after going six innings. Dallas Monk led the offence, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
The Canadian College Baseball Conference championships start Thursday (May 10) in Kamloops.
