United, Gorge will square off

Nanaimo United is entering a rare two-game weekend, but they’ll be sure to spare some energy for tomorrow’s big game.

The United Div. 1 men’s soccer team hosts Gorge FC on Sunday (Jan. 15) at Merle Logan Field.

Gorge FC (5-6) is a perennial powerhouse in the division but is only one point ahead of United (4-6-2) in the Vancouver Island Soccer League standings so far this season.

The two teams played in November in Victoria, a game the home team won 2-1.

GAME ON … Sunday’s game starts at 4 p.m. … United plays Lakehill on the road Friday.
