Southside wins ladies' fastball crown

Southside emerged victorious in the Nanaimo Ladies Recreational Fastball League this year.

The squad defeated the Vancouver Island Implant Centre team in the final July 24 at the McGirr Sports Fields. Camille Smith was Southside’s most valuable player.

Fubar beat the Storm in the third-place game.

Karen Merchantson of the Implants was chosen tournament MVP and Southside’s Tabitha Eastick was selected most sportsmanlike player.

Eight teams competed in the NLRFL this season, with games going from April to July.
