Sport explorers sought for summer camp
At PacificSport’s multi-sport day camps, there are a lot of different seasons in session, all at once.
The provincial sport body will again offer its XploreSportZ summer camps over the coming weeks.
The Nanaimo camp for children seven to 12 will be held July 11-15, based out of Uplands Park Elementary School. Camp goes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
One of the many sports to be covered will be baseball, coached by Vancouver Island Baseball Institute Mariners pitcher Jon Przybyl.
“It’s such a good program here in the community, a great way to learn and experience a wide range of activities and sports in just one week,” he said. “I wish a camp like this was available when I was younger.”
New this year, PacificSport is also offering a pair of multi-sport camps for youngsters aged four to six and their parents, called Active Star camps.
The first is July 4-8 at Woodbank Primary School in Cedar; the second is Aug. 15-19 at Fairview Community School in Harewood. Both those camps run from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
There will also be multi-sport camps in Ladysmith and Parksville.
