Sports hall comes calling

Many worthy athletes, teams and builders are not yet enshrined in the Nanaimo Sports Hall of Fame. So the Nanaimo Museum is again putting out the call for nominees for the class of 2011.

Anyone can submit nomations for consideration. There are categories for athletes, teams, builders, pioneers and media.

The selection panel will review all nominations received in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

”If you’re thinking of nominating someone for the Sports Hall of Fame, but feel they may have already been nominated, we would ask that you call us here at the museum to find out for certain,” said Debbie Trueman, general manager of the museum, in a press release.

Criteria and nomination forms are available at the museum or online at www.nanaimomuseum.ca. The deadline for nominations is April 15. Call 250-753-1821 for more information.
