VIU badminton solid at tourney

Vancouver Island University’s badminton team put forth a good showing at its own tournament earlier this month at the VIU gym.

While the VIU volleyball and basketball teams rocked the gym at night during Island Rivalry weekend, the badminton players kept things buzzing during daytime action Jan. 15-16.

VIU’s best results came in men’s doubles and women’s doubles, as Bryan Cassels and Zach Yim and Jen Abrahamson and Jenny Aronson both took first place in the B finals.

Chris Harris came third in men’s C singles and Sherri Harris and Jordan Bartulabac were third in women’s C doubles.

Provincials will be Feb. 12-13 at Douglas College.
