To the editor,

Re: Beefs and Bouquets, May 18.

How dare you, how can you make up your minds to take the daffodils from the Canadian Cancer Society’s front door? Imagine taking the last one.

After the long winter, in the spring, the daffodil is one of the first flowers that grow. Their beauty just brings smiles and joy to almost all of us.

They are very important to the struggle that many people face with cancer – babies, children, young people, adults and seniors.

I watched a little girl, four years old, die of cancer. I was just 17; people did not talk about cancer then. It broke my heart. I watched friends and family die of cancer. The pain gets worse. My young grandson with something in his eye, at three months. Well, that little something turned out to be cancer. He lost his eye.

Oh yes, I am angry. Most of all, I am angry that people can steal the daffodils in front of the cancer society’s office. I love the daffodils.
