We're paying double to recycle

To the Editor,

Re: Recycling exchange deserves local support, Letters, Feb. 11.

Why is the Nanaimo Recycling Exchange not being supported by the millions of dollars we are being charged as recycling fees? I have had to pay up to 27.5 per cent of the sticker price, in recycling fees. Where is all this money going?

It does not seem fair that the people who actually handle the recyclables have to ask users or taxpayers for handouts when we have already paid handsomely to address this problem.
