Exercise costs are prohibitive
To the Editor,
I have been going to the weight room at Beban Park on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. to take advantage of the $2 cost.
It wasn’t long before the fee went up to $3 and now it is going up to $5 which puts it out of reach for me financially to go there and exercise.
The B.C. government is advertising the Participaction Program and the City of Nanaimo is doing everything possible to to make it impossible to do so.
How can you possibly justify such a large increase? I am a senior and would like to exercise, and I enjoyed going to Beban.
Since I cannot afford the private gyms, that leaves me with very few options on a cold, rainy day other than to go for a walk. I am left with the feeling that no one cares.
I would like someone to explain to me why it was necessary to impose such a large fee increase and who benefits.
I am getting so fed up with Nanaimo policies.
