Price excuses just don’t fly
To the Editor,
Re: Gas prices leave little to be thankful for, Letters, Oct. 6.
Further to the letter regarding Nanaimo prices going up to $1.37 per litre overnight. I had to take a trip to Victoria on Thursday and was stunned at what I saw.
Ladysmith was $1.28/ l, Victoria was $1.23/l and Duncan was $1.18/l.
I never want to hear another lie from the oil companies about the cost of distribution. If we were still buying gas by the gallon, they wouldn’t dare bump the price the way they do.
Last week, the price jumped from $1.25/l to $1.37/l overnight – that’s the same as $0.54/gal and the difference between here and Duncan, would be $0.85. People would scream like crazy if they saw that kind of increase.
The distributor for Nanaimo should be charged with theft, plain and simple. There is no excuse to have such a discrepancy in prices.
