Ferries an extension of national highway
To the Editor,
Re: Ferry fares increase, April 1, March 22.
B.C. Ferries has lost touch with its mandate to provide Trans-Canada Highway service to those of us living on the islands, in particular Vancouver Island.
This is our road system. Until we are blessed with a bridge, we have no choice but to rely on ferries as our portion of the highway.
I resent listening to travel agents on TV ads selling B.C. Ferries as a travel destination, and inviting people to enter to win a vacation with B.C. Ferries.
Our fares pay for these unnecessary ads, not to mention inflated wages and perks. With no other choice, all advertising is unnecessary.
