LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Human choices, not God’s will, cause war

God gave us free will and unfortunately we do not always make good decisions, says letter writer

To the editor,

Re: Remember those soldiers who lost their lives in service, Letters, Nov 18.

I agree with the letter writer that a more appropriate phrase is ‘They lost their lives in devoted service to their country and nation.’ My father was one of them.

However, war and evil aren’t God-made, they are human-made. God gave us free will and unfortunately we do not always make good and right decisions. God weeps when we do the wrong thing. God weeps when we are not kind to the Earth and its people. God weeps for the poor and hungry. God weeps for the sore in heart and the sick and grieving.

So much depends on us. What we plant decides what we reap. So get out there and do some good planting. Wear your masks; social distance; do your part to squelch this pandemic and stop blaming God.
