Fraudsters allowed to operate freely

Why does the RCMP turn a blind eye to fraud?

Why does the RCMP turn a blind eye to fraud? We recently received a number of phone calls from someone claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency. They left a phone number to call back and threatened dire consequences if ignored.

When I reported this scam to the RCMP, they indicated they were well aware of the scam and to just ignore the calls. Since I could give them the phone number the scammers left, why won’t they take action before somebody gets swindled?

If I reported a person standing on a street corner with an obviously fake gun demanding money, would the police response be ‘it’s a fake gun, just ignore it?’ I hope not.

It isn’t surprising these sorts of scams are proliferating since there is little risk of getting caught, because the police take no action. The RCMP shouldn’t ignore reports of criminals praying on the vulnerable.
