It seems that our city council representatives can’t find the few bucks that they have been contributing for 16 years to match the levy that businesses in the Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association have been contributing for the same length of time. As a result, the association, which is actually trying to do some good for our city, will be dissolved.
What is the published reason for discontinuing the grant to the association? The council’s core review found that the grant was “unprecedented.” I would think that since the grant was ongoing for 16 years it would serve as its own precedent.
