Council needs a complete refresh

It seems to me this will present an opportunity to make wholesale changes

Re: Wendy Pratt resigns from city council, April 11.

If I understand correctly, the resignation of Wendy Pratt will prompt a costly byelection. It seems to me this will also present an opportunity to make wholesale changes to this council, whose legitimacy could not be more clearly repudiated, through the 80-per cent rejection of their ridiculous plans for our priceless waterfront.

The only honourable course of action is for all council members to submit resignations in a timely manner to allow the electorate an opportunity for a much-needed house cleaning. Those council members who feel their services might remain useful, or simply need the paycheck, are welcome to once again put their names forward for consideration. Good luck with that.

Perhaps the ballot could also include a question regarding the confidence of voters, or lack thereof, in top management at city hall. How did this person become so powerful and how soon can a qualified replacement be found? Another good question would be who made this hire in the first place?
