When we lived in Arizona the automation garbage pails had a metal bar that the truck hooked to lift the pails. The metal bars broke frequently and the men would then do the lift manually. There were always three men with each truck.
Hopefully the pails have a good track record and problems like this have been thought through carefully. I do not have much confidence in city hall.

The article doesn’t say the size of the “easy-to-manoeuvre wheeled carts.” Several U.S. cities have this system and the carts are enormous. They would not suit our neighbourhoods. They wouldn’t fit in the garage, unless you got rid of a car. They look horrible sitting in the front yard all week, which is what the U.S. cities do. So, how big?
