City outsourcing roles as alternative to raise
To the Editor,
Re: Council adding city spokesperson to staff, March 1.
First Nanaimo council hires a planning consultant and now they want to hire a public relations expert.
If they have no vision for the city and lack communication skills, why did they run for council?
Since another big pay raise would be very unpopular, maybe outsourcing council’s responsibilities is a clever alternative.
It is well known that incumbent municipal politicians have an easy time getting re-elected, as a result of their name recognition advantage.
For our incumbent politicians to now go out and hire a full time PR professional, on the tax payer’s dime, seems like piling on.
